25. Puffer Fish (Fugu) – European Union

Puffer fish, or fugu, is a Japanese delicacy that can be deadly if prepared incorrectly. The fish contains tetrodotoxin, a potent neurotoxin that can cause paralysis and death. Due to the risks involved, the sale and preparation of fugu is highly regulated in Japan and outright banned in the European Union. Only licensed chefs who have undergone rigorous training are allowed to prepare it in Japan.
